Supporting the Voluntary Sector in Gwent

Blaenau Gwent Children & Young People’s Voluntary Sector Network (BGVSN)

The role of the BGVSN is to support Voluntary Sector groups and organisations in Blaenau Gwent that work with children & young people.

This is done in a number of ways by;

  • Holding bi-monthly Voluntary Sector Network Meetings
  • Sharing information on a local, regional & national level
  • Electing and supporting representatives, from the voluntary sector, to sit on the Children & Young People's Partnership & other local partnerships
  • Sharing updates on training, funding opportunities and best practise, via regular e-mails, website and monthly newsletters
  • Signposting to relevant agencies for support
  • Maintaining a Voluntary Sector Data Base of all groups and agencies

The Network is open to all voluntary groups and organisations that provide services and support or work with children, young people and their families in Blaenau Gwent.

Strategic Planning

The strategic planning for children & young people aged 0 - 25 in Blaenau Gwent is undertaken by the Children & Young People's Partnership. The Partnership is made up of members from different sectors; Local Authority, Health, Police and the voluntary sector.
As outlined by the Welsh Government, the Partnership is required to produce a 3 year strategic plan for the delivery of services to children and young people in Blaenau Gwent.
