Monmouthshire's Carers Project is a partnership between Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO), Monmouthshire Social and Housing Services, Aneurin Bevan Health Board and Crossroads South East Wales. It aims to ensure that carers know where to go to get help, have an opportunity to talk about support they may need and have help to get that support.
Carers who register with Monmouthshire Carers Project receive a newsletter three times a year providing news items and information about training days and events for carers in Monmouthshire.
Monmouthshire Carers Strategy Group
Monmouthshire Carers Strategy Group is made up of carers and representatives from the Carers Project and voluntary organisations. The group meets every six weeks to plan services for carers.
Monmouthshire Carers Handbook
Monmouthshire Carers Handbook provides carers with practical advice and information. It tells carers about their right to receive a Carers' Assessment, legal rights, money matters and benefits, taking a break from caring, help from social services and health services and much more.
Carers Support Groups
There are a number of support groups for carers in Monmouthshire. An up to date list is available from the Carers Co-ordinator who is based in GAVO.
Young Carers Project
Monmouthshire Young Carers Project is a way for young people between the ages of 8-18 to have a break. It provides social activities, youth clubs, advocacy, information and training courses.
